This course is an introduction to understanding & supporting anxiety in teenagers, through mindfulness based kaupapa.

We provide scholarships and partial scholarships for our courses. Rangatahi, youth mentors, teachers and whānau have been recipients of our scholarships. 
We never want money to be the reason why teachers, whānau and healthcare professionals can't benefit from what we're offering.

About the course

Kristina and rangatahi facilitators will lead mindfulness meditations and offer practical tools and strategies to support youth in dealing with anxiety. Through this kaupapa youth can learn to develop a sense of calm, self-compassion and presence.

This course will cover:
  • Introduction to mindfulness
  • Developing our own mindfulness practice
  • Understanding anxiety
  • How to support students with anxiety
  • Rangatahi-led insights into anxiety and practical tools
  • How to bring it into everyday life + the classroom

Practical approach

Based on teacher feedback, our training is designed to provide relevant and usable strategies in a format that is brief and easily implemented. 

Rangatahi-led

With insights and guided meditations from our rangatahi facilitators, Christine and Te Aorangi, the content and tools are delivered by rangatahi, for rangatahi.

This course is tailored to be practical and useful for everyday classroom support. Designed for teachers, it's also highly relevant for whānau and youth workers. 

Kristina Cavit - MNZM

Kristina is the Founder & Director of The Kindness Institute. She has spent the past 10+ years working with marginalised communities facing stress and trauma in New Zealand and around the world. She has trained with world leading organisations including Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Center for Mindfulness through the University Of Massachusetts Medical School, The Holistic Life Foundation, supported by Harvard and John Hopkins Medical School, and The Institute of The Work of Byron Katie.Kristina is also the founder of NPH New Zealand, which supports almost 4,000 orphaned and abandoned children in Latin America. She lived at the NPH home in the Dominican Republic for two years in management, education and development and supported with the Haiti 2010 earthquake relief effort. Kristina is also the co-founder of FAT YOGA NZ which is a body positive community, fighting to change negative perceptions of the body.

In 2018 Kristina was named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to youth and community. Kristina has been nominated for Young New Zealander of The Year 2018, received a Kiwibank Local Hero Award for her work in 2014 and a Womens Fund 2018 Champion of Change award.Kristina is an experienced and dynamic public speaker and delivers inspirational talks to support people to explore mindful leadership, stress management, volunteerism and social change.As a Mindfulness educator and coach, Kristina is passionate about sharing practical strategies on how each of us can manage stress. Her point of difference is her ability to make challenging concepts accessible, highly engaging, transformative and fun. Based in Auckland, Kristina works with clients globally and all around Aotearoa.
